24 hours in a day is all that everybody has. It seems like sometimes that is not enough. The reason why it may not seem as it is not enough because you are not using your time wisely or correctly. Why is it that some people can accomplish so much in a day while other people struggle to accomplish any tasks? The answer better time management skills.

So what exactly is better time management? The definition is:

“Time management” is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities. Better time management enables you to work smarter – not harder – so that you get more done in less time, even when time is tight and pressures are high. Failing to manage your time damages your effectiveness and causes stress.

In order to have better time management skills you will need to shift your focus from activities to results. It doesn’t matter how busy you may be in your day, it you are not getting any results then you are just spinning your wheels.

You need to have a time management plan for your week. Pick a day (It could be Sunday) to plan your week to manage your time to keep yourself on a schedule. The importance of time management is that you need to schedule your daily tasks. But for better time management, put your schedule in a calendar!! That way you will be kept accountable and know how to manage time better. It make it seem more real.

Better Time Management Once you have your plan stick to it! That’s the importance of better time management. Don’t let any distractions like your cell phone take you away from what you are doing. Just because the phone rings doesn’t mean you have to answer it. Turn it off! Shut down your email or any other distracting activity. This is part of your time management plan. And if someone interrupts you and asks you to do something for them, remember it’s okay to say no. You are to stay focused on what you have planned and nothing should take you away from that.

Choose a task to work on and set a timer. If you chose 30 minutes as your time frame to work in then make sure you are actually working in those 30 minutes. Remember the importance of time management. After the timer goes off, take a break. You need to give your brain a break to switch from the task that you just worked on. Do something totally different from what you were doing to manage your time. Take a walk, read a book, or clean your desk. If you find yourself doing a task that is not generating money then outsource it!

Once you learn how to manage time better and become efficient with a better time management plan, you’ll stop being all over the place and find yourself accomplishing more in less time
